What's your thoughts on social media?
I'm guessing that you love it?...
Well three years ago I did not have any social media accounts only my Facebook profile
Now, I have all the social media accounts across different platforms
What changed you ask?
Well, I started a new job I found a new friend and then I found Twitter
When I started my Twitter account I had no clue what to use it for, how it functioned, what the possibilities could be
But then you start posting whatever comes to your mind
Different subjects come out of your brain and splurge through your fingers onto the Twitter platform!
Then after a short while you start to gain recognition on certain types of tweets
That's when you start doubling down on those types of tweets and converting them into longer tweets, ie: threads
Then it's like a light bulb moment in your brain when something clicks
You say to yourself “Can I gain this much traction from writing about something that I know about?”
I started to experiment with memes, personal photographs, different types of mood images
I came to the conclusion that you should start a thread with a delicious hook and a related image
After experimenting with this formula for almost two months..
My Twitter account was getting so much engagement and rafts of new followers
That's when you realize that consistency is the key to building a successful Twitter account, or any other social media account
There are slight nuanced differences between what you should and shouldn't post, but the rules are the same…
If you show up every single day on each of your social media accounts you'll build yourself a great audience
And you're gonna build yourself digital assets which can actually pay when you monetize them
Plus you're also building an email list!
I know it seems funny considering I'm talking about building an online presence, but that's the the final link in the chain
So what's my final learning?
You need to have a good head of picture, you need to have a good clear profile pic, and you also need a clear and concise bio..
You should post at least 3-4 times every day on your social media accounts, with a mixture of image tweets, also questions, questions perform well
Then if you're talking about Twitter or Threads you should post at least two good valuable threads per week
On LinkedIn you need to be posting again three to four times a day at the start, then you need to do some carousels, post two to three of those a week at the start
With Instagram you need to post at least 2-3 times per day, with at least two to three stories added per day, then I recommend going for at least two reels per day
This is a short summary of how I grow my accounts, there's much more to it and it's so time consuming
If you have the time to build social media assets then start today, but you have to show up every single day!
