Bad Stuff Happens

Bad Stuff Happens..

Bad stuff is a part of our lives, it’s inevitable..

When you’re young, like 6–11 years old, bad stuff is things like getting sent to bed early or having your favourite toy car taken away from you

It generally feels like your world has caved in, when you’re sat in your bedroom two whole hours before normal bedtime

You’d ask “Please can I come back downstairs?” over and over again to no avail, then fall asleep thirty minutes later clutching a pillow and drooling into it profusely

Remember being sheepish and creeping a lot the next day?, and resolving “I’ll never do that again” in your mind

When you’re older it’s a whole different, much more painful ball game that takes it’s toll on your mental well being, until you get an idea of how to handle yourself

Too many times I’ve got knocked down and then picked myself back up again, and then you get side swiped by another one of life’s strong right hooks

It makes you strong, then you develop a sense for what to avoid and what you can handle easier

When you become a parent the game of life changes ALL the rules yet again, you find yourself clawing at the sides of sanity’s pit much more frantically than ever before

I know, I make it sound like torture, haha, but seriously I get it, it’s very very difficult to adjust as a father, most especially the first time round

You lose your sense of identity and your freedom no longer exists, caring for a helpless human life who completely relies on you

I remember feeling utterly lost after the first of my three kids was born

People say to you six months before the little one arrives “Oh yes, we’ll look after him/her and baby sit whenever you need to go out”

I found statements like this to be utter bullshit, BELIEVE me they don’t and there’s ALWAYS an excuse, you’re truly on your own

How I wish there was a place for me to chat with other fathers, or some kind of method to chat privately with somebody else, who was experiencing the same overwhelming feeling

Well now there is, if you’re a new father who needs to talk and blow off some steam, or get answers to questions I KNOW that you have

I have three kids, one 19 year old boy, one 9 year old girl and a 3 year old boy which means I can help you, so please...
